Richard Schulte Bio
Attorney Richard Schulte has dedicated his entire legal career to fighting for the rights of ordinary citizens, often against some of the biggest corporations and insurance companies in the country. Over the past two decades, Richard has built a successful practice by upholding the highest standards of ethics and client service. Coming from a blue collar background, Richard understands how easily the powerful are able to take advantage of the ordinary citizen. But he also knows that the legal system, when it is allowed to work for all people, is a potent weapon for holding wrongdoers responsible for their actions. This belief has allowed Richard to successfully face down major insurance companies, huge pharmaceutical conglomerates, police departments, city governments, the Catholic Church and many other powerful institutions on behalf of the innocent.
Richard Schulte has built a national practice that has allowed him the privilege of representing people throughout the United States. Richard was one of the first attorneys to file suit against Johnson & Johnson over safety issues with its Ortho Evra birth control patch. His work on behalf of victims of pedophile priests led to settlements in a string of cases in the southern United States. Richard’s representation of a senior citizen who was repeatedly tased by an officer of an Ohio police department was covered by Court TV and Inside Edition, while his other efforts to expose wrongdoing on the part of large corporations and powerful institutions have garnered the attention of CNN, MSNBC, Good Morning America, NBC’s TODAY and other major news outlets.
Today, Richard continues to be at the forefront of some of the most important legal cases of our time. His reputation as a strong advocate for injured people has led to his appointment to leadership roles in a number of high-profile product liability mass torts, including In Re: Skechers Toning Shoe Products Liability Litigation (MDL #2308); In Re: Darvocet, Darvon and Propoxyphene Products Liability Litigation (MDL #2226); and In Re: Yasmin and Yaz (Drospirenone) Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation (MDL #2100).
Richard Schulte is committed to ensuring that America’s courtrooms are always open to ordinary citizens, not just the powerful. To that end, he devotes much of his time to the Ohio Association for Justice, which has seen fit to entrust Richard with its presidency. Richard has also been named one of four Ohio attorneys to represent the state on the American Association for Justice’s Board of Governors. Both organizations count the best attorneys in the United States among their members, and Richard is honored that his colleagues have entrusted these leadership roles to him.
For Richard Schulte, his family is the only thing that comes before his law practice. He and his wife, a practicing OB/GYN, are the proud parents of two boys. Richard believes his work to protect the rights of everyday people against the powerful will help ensure that his own sons are able to live in a society where all citizens are equal under the law.
